Olive Oil

No product has been indistinguishable with the Mediterranean Diet so much as the Olive oil. One of the main characteristics of the Mediterranean Diet is that fat intake relies to a much greater extent on plants than on animals. Olive oil, as a vegetable fat, contains more polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids and contains no "bad" cholesterol.

Olive oil is also rich in antioxidants, particularly polyphenols, which help to fortify the human body against oxidative stress and, consequently, prevent premature aging of cells.
